Tuesday, 30 August 2011

My bachelor's degree in mass communications involve various essay writing tasks related to the different fields of mass communications such as advertising, broadcasting, journalism, public relations, publishing, digital communication, and interpersonal communication. During my first year, we researched and wrote communications essays that involved the general field of communications, but with an emphasis on the specific fields in communications.

But there were communications essays that focused on the general area of communications and interpersonal communications. Since I was still in my first year, I sought help from my friends on how to research and write essays on communications and I read books and other materials on essay writing in the library and from various Internet websites. From the materials I read, I learned some basic tips or guidelines on how to write communications essays.

The basic tips include:

* The several factors that should be found in the contents of communications essays. The essay should allow the writer or the person that is the subject of the essay in sharing his own concerns and interests. Other factors include the essay should show communication activities of body language, listening and talking, and the essay should present information that is related and relevant for the topic.

* The structure of communications essays are similar to the basic structure of academic essays – the parts consisting of the introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction has a single paragraph that presents the topic and a thesis statement in the last part. The body contains several paragraphs with background and supporting information about the topic. The conclusion summarises the main points from the body.

Monday, 8 August 2011

The art essay is usually done by evaluating a work or piece of art through writing. It is easier said than done. This is because students in art classes writing essays should understand the art piece before they can evaluate them. Further, evaluating is not as simple as it may seem because students should know the proper way of evaluating using the appropriate criteria.

Rather, your can include or make as the topic, your comment on the comment of an expert or more. In other words, there is no wrong answer to some extent.

  • Mechanics and Their Utilisation – With the art essay, as mentioned, there is no wrong answer. You will be marked through your opinion or comment and how you present and discuss it. Presenting and discussing are the ones you can do right and you can do these by demonstrating sufficient knowledge and research about the art work and art in general. The student should know the mechanics that compose art which include subject, medium, content and many others. You should also be able to discuss how well the artist used the mechanics in the art piece or pieces.

  • Analysing the Artist – In writing essays in art, you can analyse or understand what the artist wanted to come up with. Then, proceed with describing what the artist wanted to say through the art piece and sharing your feelings and thoughts about them. You must also include writing what you like and do not about the art work.

I met the test of my writing in my elementary and high school, joined in trying to write considerable especially since my interests are reading, writing, journalism, language and other things related to communication. But when I became a college freshman, the real importance of the writing test actually affects me and my friends.

Other first-year students in my class who were not interested in writing an essay and even to scratch your head wondering how important it is wise to write them. They ask that the issue in light of the burden of doing various academic works, and reviewing and studying, they have to do studies. Some students who know themselves say, for example, the reason to write an essay about themselves when they could always get help from a series of web-based services to provide essay writing services at affordable prices that read on the Internet. They contribute an essay to justify the service, saying they are busy doing other important tasks, and have the extra money anyway.

When my friends asked me questions like how important is the test anyway?, And how can theses help others to contribute their qualifications? I always tell them what to do on their own to write the test procedures for the implementation of a comprehensive search of library research, reading and analysis through many books, magazines and other reading materials to help them develop their skills in research, analysis and analytical thinking that would be helpful as they advance in their studies in the months ahead. On the question of how the tests could help my friends, the answer to how it helps the writing test that allows them to show and demonstrate our teachers the level of competence and mastery of the material we learned in our studies.

How I Learned to Write a Good General Paper Essays

Sunday, 26 June 2011

A general paper essay or also known as GP essay is a literary composition in which a student is given the option of selecting his own essay topic and the student should prove in the essay that he could argue and discuss the topic with authority and in an effective way. I was in the year 12 at a sixth form college when we began to start the GP essay writing tasks. I learned that compared to the previous five-paragraph essays that we did in secondary school, the general paper essay followed a specific format and writing style based on the academic style guide provided by our lecturer.

I was initially confused in learning how to write a GP essay, but thanks to the essay writing lessons provide to us by our lecturer and the reading and studying that I did in the library, I eventually learned the basic guidelines for writing a general paper essay and apply those guidelines in my GP essay writing task. So now I am sharing with everyone the things I learned in writing my GP essay so that you would overcome the same essay writing problems that I encountered.

The guidelines in writing a general paper essay:

·         You should listen to the instructions provided by the lecturer such as the specific style guide for the format and the citation style for the bibliography and references. For the topic selection, our lecturer told us to avoid topics that are very general or vague, but instead select a specific topic that is feasible for us to perform a thorough research and possible for use to write about the topic within the submission deadline.

·         The structure of GP essays are similar to university essays that have a comprehensive introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction has a thesis statement that presents the argument, the body discusses the arguments and the supporting facts or evidence, and the conclusion summarises the discussions from the body.

Overview of an Essay

Monday, 30 May 2011

An essay refers to a short literary composition on a subject. It usually, but not always, presents the personal view of its author. It is a common task for many students starting from middle. As the student progresses to high school and university, the frequency of essay assignments will also increase. However, this will depend on what degree programme they decide to study.

Students who are new at this task may be wondering about the steps involved in how to make an essay. Common questions for beginners would include the following:

·         What is the ideal length of an essay?
·         How do I choose the topic?
·         From among the materials I have researched, what should I include in the essay?
·         What are the formatting guidelines, if any?
·         How do I cite my sources?

Students and writers who already know how to make an essay will agree that there are three components that make up an essay: the introduction, the body and the conclusion. The introduction provides a general view of the essay topic. Often, the author includes background information that will help the reader understand more of the topic and gently guide them to the author's discussion. This is also the part where the author provides a statement expressing his or her point of view. The body contains the biggest section of the essay. This is the part where arguments are laid down and proven, a narrative is unveiled or comparisons and contrasts made, depending on the type of essay. The conclusion summarises the important points of the essay and reiterates the author's position on the subject.

The following items are indispensable checklist for students just learning how to make an essay. This will provide a constant visual reminder of the things they need to ensure in order to produce a good essay:

·      A topic that addresses the goal of the assignment and is appropriate to the subject of study
·         Thorough research to include all possible sources and reference materials
·         A well thought out thesis statement
·         An engaging introduction that will encourage the readers to read the rest of the essay
·         Paragraphs in the body which effectively support the thesis statement
·      A conclusion which leaves no doubt for the reader about the arguments and information presented
·         Proper formatting taking into account the correct word count, margins, spacing, font size and style
·         Proper structure
·         Logical organisation and transition of ideas
·         Appropriate content placement
